Job Summary:
As a Tax Case Manager, you will oversee and manage tax cases for individuals and businesses, ensuring timely resolution and compliance with tax laws and regulations. Your primary responsibilities will include analyzing tax issues, developing case strategies, communicating with clients and tax authorities, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to achieve favorable outcomes for clients. You will also provide guidance and support to clients throughout the resolution process, including audits, appeals, and collections proceedings.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of tax cases for individuals and businesses, including audits, appeals, and collections proceedings.
- Analyze tax issues and assess clients' tax positions to develop case strategies and action plans.
- Communicate with clients to gather necessary information, explain tax processes and outcomes, and provide updates on case progress.
- Liaise with tax authorities, including the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and state tax agencies, to represent clients' interests and negotiate resolutions.
- Prepare and review documentation, including tax returns, financial statements, and correspondence, to support clients' positions and respond to tax inquiries and notices.
- Monitor deadlines and ensure timely submission of required documents and responses to tax authorities to avoid penalties and legal consequences.
- Manage caseload, setting reminders, arranging appointments, and maintaining regular client communication via email to progress cases.
- Provide guidance and support to clients throughout the resolution process, including explaining rights and options, addressing concerns, and managing expectations.
- Stay updated on changes to tax laws, regulations, and procedures to ensure compliance and effectiveness in case management.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of client communications, case details, and outcomes in accordance with professional standards and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in tax case management, audit representation, or tax consulting.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in accounting, finance, or taxation preferred.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws, regulations, and procedures.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex tax concepts clearly and effectively to clients and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in tax preparation software, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant tools and technology.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and case management.
- Commitment to client service and confidentiality, with a high degree of professionalism and integrity.
- Ability to adapt to changes in tax laws, regulations, and procedures and continuously improve case management practices.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift.
- Day shift.
- Monday to Friday.
